Seamless Commit Automation 🔁

Effortlessly maintain your GitHub repositories with automated commits.

Automated Commits in GitShine allows users to keep their GitHub repositories active with daily commits. This feature is designed to help maintain a consistent presence in your projects, ideal for keeping repositories up-to-date and engaging. Moreover, this feature could also greatly help users who are new to GitHub and are looking to build up their GitHub profiles for jobs or internships.

Seamless Commit Automation runs in the background — GitShine creates the commits through the GitHub API on a schedule. It never clones or modifies your code, and your GitHub token is encrypted at rest.

Setting up

To set up Seamless Commit Automation for a repository, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the GitShine dashboard.
  2. Click Set up a repo.
  3. Choose the number of commits per day (1–10). For a natural-looking graph, pair this with a schedule personality.
  4. Select one of your GitHub repositories from the list.
  5. Save and check that the repo appears as Shining 🌟 on your dashboard.

You can pause or resume any repo at any time with the status toggle on the dashboard, and the Today column shows how many of the day's commits have already landed.

Up to 2 repos can be shining at once. Make sure you have connected your GitHub account in the GitShine settings first — repos can only be set up on the account you connected.

By following these simple steps, you can ensure your repositories remain active and up-to-date with minimal effort.
