Customizable Commits ✍️
Tailor the content of your automated commits with custom or AI-generated messages.
GitShine's Customizable Commits feature gives you control over the content of your automated commits, for a more authentic and relevant commit history.
Commit messages are chosen with a simple priority: AI-generated (if enabled) → your custom messages → GitShine's defaults.
Custom commit messages
- Access the GitShine dashboard.
- Click Set up a repo.
- Choose the number of commits per day and select your repository.
- Turn on Use custom commit messages and add one or more messages (e.g. "Update documentation").
- Save — GitShine picks one of your messages at random for each commit.
AI-generated commit messages
Turn on Use AI-generated commit messages instead and GitShine will write a short, natural-sounding commit message for each commit, based on your repository's actual file structure and documentation — no two commits need to look alike.
If neither option is enabled, GitShine falls back to a rotating set of sensible default messages.
